Abstract:

We present here the pollen analysis of two sequences originating from two peat bogs from Harghita Mountains. The vegetation record, which is supported by five 14C dates, starts in the Subboreal (age) with the Carpinus optimum. During the Subatlantic (age) the vegetation is dominated by Fagus. Indications of human impact (especially agricultural activities) in the region occur at the beginning of the Subboreal (at ca. 4200 years BP).
